People will always lie to get ahead,
Promises made are promises broken,
The only true friends are friends that won't leave when you need thier help,
Love will destroy you,
listen, learn, protect, join
Free your mind and your ass will follow.

I need to practice beginning a story, so might as well try it on a genre I'm not really used to
----------------------------------------
Gerret was hunched over a computer screen, it seemed like it's all he did for the past two months of this war, look at computer screens. The screen showed a listing of soldiers at the base he had been given command of by the death of his superior. when all of a sudden a familiar voice filled his ears. It was soft but with a harshness to it, unlike all the voices in this ragtag resistance.
"You're gonna ruin yer eyes starin so hard at that screen Gerret" Gerret swung around a smile playing on his face
"Lurice is that you? When did you sneak back into the city" Lurice laughed his green eyes locking with Gerret's smoke grey ones
"Two days ago, I've been dodgin damn alpha patrols tryin ta find you" Lurice laughed after his statement "So what's goin on? Everythin's jumbled and it's like there's new borderlines since I left" Gerret nodded
"That's exactly what's going on" he turned a chair around and motioned for Lurice to sit "I'll explain the new layout and who owns what" Lurice sat and Gerret began to give him the situation "[The port] is the same, ocean front, we've found some shippers that will bring in what we need to the port, but we don't own it, the alphas have it. Next up is [Nova gate], the northernmost sector, alphas have it to, it's a fortress, hard to attack, easy to defend, south of that is the [Sigma hub], it's where the underground from the outside builders was put in by the alphas but we took it so we can get shipments in, a godsend for us. next is the [scrapyard] its east of the [sigma hub] opposite [the port], it's a metal graveyard, wonderful for our combat style which is why we still have it, lots of hiding spots. Next is the [citidel] it's the alpha home base, it's south of the [sigma hub] and as far as we can tell impossible to get into. next is [Blood square], it's big and open only way to defend it is sheer numbers and since the alphas have that, they own it. Lastly is the [Prospect], the southernmost sector, it has a small contact point with [Scrapyard] and has a good tunnel system so we've managed to keep it. That's the rundown" Lurice eyed Gerret
"ok so lemme list we have, Scrapyard, Sigma Hub, and Prospect. and the Alphas have, Port, Citidel, Blood Square, and Nova Gate" Gerret nodded in agreeance "ok well I'm gonna go get set up with a squad, get equipped, and be back to make some plans for how this is gonna end"
"ok, I'll be staring at the screen waiting for you to get back"
Lurice walked off to the armory and Gerret went back to his computer each waiting for the other to finish and get ready for the beginning of the end.

Authors Note: hmmm, I don't really like how short it was, I'll try t make future ones longer which will be easier because it'll have more action. I had fun Doing Lurice, with his accent, I hope I remember to keep it up. I put the brackets in for the names of city pieces in the block of speech to make them easier to pick out because they're important, I'm sorry if it makes little sense of the spacing and layout of the city. I'm going to try and slowly throw in the history of the war, why Lurice left, and who exactly the Alphas are and who controls them. This is a major work in progress and I intend for there to be two stories switching off every so often. Two points of view, one for Gerret and one for Lurice. Well I hope you enjoy this cause I think I'll like writing it.
